Below are some frequently asked questions about MTA and our medical transcription ASP solution.


How long has Davis Medical Transcription been in business?
Since 1992.


Do I have to purchase additional software or hardware to run your platform in my office?
No. All you need is a computer with access to the web. Please see our technology page for minimum computer requirements.


Do I have to sign a long term contract?
No.  Contracts are negotiated on a yearly basis, with a 30 out clause.


Will we need to purchase proprietary digital recorders or other equipment to work with your system?
No. Any digital recording device will work. PDA's and tablet PC's equipped with digital voice recorders will also work. The system also accepts digital or analog phone dictation via our toll free telephone lines.


How big does a company need to be to use your software?
We accommodate large and small companies alike, whether you have one doctor or 1,000.


What about support?
We excel in supporting our clients. We have after hours critical support and typical user support is available during normal business hours. Our typical support response is less than 60 minutes.


Can our doctors use a telephone to dictate?
Yes. Our platform works with digital or analog phones, in addition to digital voice recorders and PDA's.


Can you prioritize work types for the MT queue?
We have 99 levels of priorities that can be assigned to different work types, plus STAT assignments available.


Do you charge for electronic signatures?
No.


How are finished files delivered to the doctor or clinic administrator?
Doctors and assistants can log in to view, edit and electronically sign transcriptions.  Hard copies (or digital files) can be automatically printed (or stored) at any remote location with an Internet connection.


Can I send reports to referring doctors?
Yes.  We have automatic forwarding built into the system.  Referring doctors can receive documents automatically, the same as your clients.


How difficult is setting up a doctors office or clinic to use your software?
Its fairly simple, but like any robust software, there is some set up required on local computers.  The software is available for download from your log in page and usually takes about ten minutes per user to set up.  It can be done over the phone in most instances.


Does your system provide reports and data mining?
Yes. Every step and transaction is recorded. Standard reports are provided and custom reports are available.


What accounting functions do you provide?
Invoicing, real time revenue and cost reporting are readily available as part of the program.

I have a lot of radiologists.  Can we attach images or files to transcriptions?
Yes.   Our application is one of very few that has that capability.


Does every user have to have an internet connection?
Yes.


Do I need a broadband Internet connection?
No.  We support dial-up connections but we do not recommend them. The faster your Internet connection, the better.  


Does my medical office need a network connection for your platform to interface with our EMR software?
Yes.


Will I have to work with a customer service representative to access our files and make changes?
No. The system is completely self-administered. You can access and edit documents, listen to voice files and electronically sign documents through our secure website.  


Is the software hard to use?
No. It takes about 20 minutes to learn the fundamentals. The software has intuitive menus that are easy to navigate.


My office runs a little differently from most. Can I implement these steps into the software?
Yes. While our system is based on the most common business rules, we can customize the software based on your needs.


Is your software HIPPA compliant?
Yes.


Does your software integrate with EMR's?
Yes. We can even do custom programming if needed.


Is your software HL 7 compatible?
Yes.


Is the data backed up and secure?
Yes. We have server redundancy and automatic data backups, all located in secure, controlled environments.


Can I search through the data?
Yes, search by filename, doctor, patient name, job number and keyword.
